About

The film is set in the rural Appalachian Mountains of Virginia during the 1890s. At the beginning of the film, a young man named Roy learns that his older brother, John, has been murdered in a dispute involving another family; however, the local judge rules that John's death was self-defense.

Fueled by a naive sense that he could avenge his brother's murder and out of his feeling of duty to his ailing younger brother and his impoverished family, Roy puts a plan of deception into motion for him and his father to set out for revenge and justice against the unsuspecting family that killed John. When he gets closer and closer to confronting his brother's killer, Roy slowly begins to feel fear and guilt for the now unstoppable showdown that he has set into motion.

The crew for "Restitution" is extremely talented and dedicated. For example, the cinematographer, Adam Ouellette, has shot multiple senior thesis films at RIT, and the gaffer on the film, Ross Neugeboren has worked as a gaffer and an electrician on numerous short and feature films such as "Slash-in-the-Box" and Sinister.

We will also be shooting the production on a RED Epic with anamorphic lenses to achieve a true cinematic feeling.

In addition, our actors will be riding horses, herding cattle, and using real firearms (with blanks) to ensure as much time-period authenticity as possible. All of this will take place on visually stunning Southwest Virginia farmland that has been owned by local families for generations, some as far back as the mid-1800's.
